O’Reillys Rainforest Retreat camp
A Rainforest camp for autistic young people
Our O’Reillys Rainforest Retreat camp offers an immersion in Queensland’s beautiful Lamington National Park complete with treetop walks and animal encounters. Camp participants will have the opportunity to soar across a 180 metre zipline with epic views of Morans Creek, as well as witness stunning predators of the sky in the best Bird Show in Australia!
Evenings will come alive with a four wheel drive bus tour through an ancient rainforest to view the mystical glow worms illuminating the cliff face in a blanket of twinkling stars. Guests will also experince the opportunity to learn about the unique and quirky animals of Lamington National Park with a wildlife encounter providing the opportunity to meet Russ the friendly carpet snake, Maggie the magpie and more.
Parent education and training is supported with Allied Health sessions during the camp with a range of talks and discussion opportunities helping deliver learning opportunities to understand and support their child’s needs. Each attendee is provided with a camp welcome book full of articles to guide and educate parents further including understanding and supporting sensory needs, parenting strategies for demand avoidance children, and more.
Attendees will be able to unwind by spending time in the calming room and socialising with other autistic community members, indulging in a spot of bushwalking with over 320kms of walking tracks leading to spectacular lookouts and waterfalls, watching the wild birds being fed, or relaxing in their rooms.
